Cultural tourism in Iceland
The ITB travel trade show in Berlin, one of the largest trade shows in the world, ended last Sunday. This year Sagenhaftes Island participated with co-exhibitors Gljúfrasteinn (the Halldór Laxness museum), The Culture House (the national centre for cultural heritage in Iceland) and a number of Icelandic literary institutions: Davíðshús, Nonnahús, Sigurhæðir, Skriðuklaustur, Snorrastofa and Þórbergssetur.
The exhibition stand of Fabulous Iceland was situated in the Culture Lounge where cultural tourism was presented and drew a large attendance according to Katrín Árnadóttir from Fabulous Iceland in Berlin.
Tourist services in Iceland are greatly enthusiastic about the project and Icelandic and international travel agencies are planning trips to Iceland that relate to Icelandic literature and cultural heritage.
