Stefán Máni's success in Denmark
Crime writer Stefán Máni is enjoying great success in Denmark. Last month Politiken devoted a double-page-spread to an interview with him, while Jyllands Posten awarded five (of a possible six) to the Danish translation of his seventh book, Skipið/Skibet/The Ship. The Jyllands Posten critic praises the book for impressively combining the thrills and tension of contemporary writing with historical text, and admires Stefán Máni's subtle sense of humour, in a work he describes as walking a fine line between tragedy and farce.
The Ship/Skeppet will be published in Swedish this year by the Albert Bonnier publishing house. Translation rights have also been sold to France (Gallimard) and the Czech Republic (Mottó).
