Bragi Ólafsson's book Sendiherrann (Ambassador) has been published by the S. Fischer publishing company in German translation by Tina Flecken. Ambassador/
Der Botschafter is the second of Bragi's books to be published in German: Gæludýrin/ Haustiere (Pets) was published in 2005.
Ambassador is the story of an Icelandic poet, Sturla Jón Jónsson, grappling with a far from poetic reality, and also with the criminal who resides in all of us. The cultural ambassador of his country has to deal with unexpected events in a foreign land, but also happier ones, such as getting to know poetess Liliya Boguinskaia. And he has to face the threat entailed by his own creation: the difficult truth that, in order to be ourselves, we have to steal from others.
