About the author


Oddný Eir Ævarsdóttir was born in Reykjavík in 1972. She studied philosophy at the University of Iceland, graduating with a Master's Degree in political philosophy . She completed a doctoral minor degree at Sorbonne University and is currently working on a doctoral thesis at EHESS in Paris, as well as carrying out research in Icelandic museum field studies.

Ævarsdóttir has worked in the field of fiction and visual arts for some years; her autobiographical novel Opnun Kryppunnar (Opening the Hump) was published in 2004, and she has translated and edited literary works and organised visual arts events – she ran among other things a visual arts space in New York and Reykjavík (Dandruff Space) in collaboration with archaeologist Uggi Ævarsson. Together they run the publishing company Apaflasa (Monkey Dandruff) and have worked among other things on quality books for the Library of Water in Stykkishólmur, Iceland. She contributed to Guðrún Kristjánsdóttir's exhibition ‘Veðurskrift' (Weather Writing) in collaboration with Apaflasa. She has also worked as editor of the web site Náttúra.info.
